Tarjei Strom

Tarjei Strom's favorite Humes & Berg products

Tarjei is truly passionate about his work as a musician, and carefully chooses his work tools, and says:
"I´ve traveled the world with my gear packed in every way thinkable, but the one thing that always holds up and never ever fails me, are the Humes & Berg cases. They are, without any doubt, the most reliable way to protect your gear - and I feel truly proud & honoured to be working with the best!"

Born in Bergen, Norway October 1978, Tarjei Strom quickly found an enormous interest in the drums after getting his hands on the KISS "ALIVE!" record at the age of 4, and being blown away by the drum-solo on 100.000 years.
From there on it was all pots & pans, until he got his first real drum kit (a 60s Pink Marine Pearl, mind you) at the age of 13 - his destiny was now set.

He immediately felt right at home behind those drums, and it was obvious a quite early that this was to become more than just a hobby for him.
After going the grades with various rock bands in the local scene, Tarjei found his home in the now legendary electronic-music scene in Bergen, founding his own band Ralph Myerz & the Jack Herren Band in 1997.
The band rapidly got attention on the international scene, along with fellow Bergeners Kings of Convenience, Royksopp, Annie as they conquered the international electronic music scene continent by continent.
The drum heavy band, with their characteristic two-drummers-up-front stage set up are also worldly renowned for their ferocius live-performances and catchy music, and have left their mark on festivals as The Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde Festival, Montreux Jazzfestival, Montreal Jazzfestival, and the The Vieilles Charrues Festival (where they stepped in for David Bowie, at the headline spot in front of 70.000 people in 2004)
Since their mere beginnings in 97, the band has sold over 300 000+ records worldwide of their 3 full-lenght albums, been heard on worldwide commercials, used in numerous computer games (FIFA 07, Tiger Woods Golf), and toured the world several times.

Tarjei is also an important member of Norwegian New Ravers DATAROCK.
Also a worldwide touring monster with over 800 shows in 36 countries on 5 continents.
They've toured America alone 20 times playing numerous classic clubs like Webster Hall, The Bowery Ballroom, Knitting Factory, Beacon Theatre, Gramercy Theatre, Terminal 5, Austin Music Hall, Granada Theater, Troubadour, Key Club, The Fonda Theatre, Echoplex, El Rey Theater & House of Blues in San Diego & New Orleans,  and festivals such as Coachella '08 (CA), CMJ '07 & '11 (NYC), WMC (Miami), SXSW '07, SXSW '09 & SXSW '11 (Austin), Download (San Francisco), Detour (LA), Culture Collide (LA), Virgin Festival '09 (Toronto), Montreal Jazz Festival (Montreal), MX Beat (Mexico City), Planet Terra (Sao Paolo, Brasil), Personal Fest (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Lollapalooza 2011 (Santiago, Chile).
The North American tours include a 42 cities run the summer of 2008, and a 26 cities craze for the release of DATAROCK's second album, "RED", September '09. Thanks to this aggressive touring and the acclaim of their albums, DATAROCK's been fortunate enough to establish a worldwide profile, including impenetrable markets like the US, where DATAROCK's music has appeared on a vast number of national phenomena such as Comedy Central's "Workaholics", NCB's "Chuck", MTV's "Jersey Shore", AOL Music's "Interface", Fuel TV's "The Daily Habbit", Nickelodeon's "Yo Gabba Gabba", "ABC News" and twice on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" where DATAROCK's once appearance on the outdoor stage at the release date of their second album.

You can also find DATAROCK's tracks in an unprecedented number of major video games such as Fifa '08, Fifa '09, Fifa '10, Fifa Street, Sims 2, Sims 3, Need For Speed, Madden NFL and the iPad & iPhone hits, Tap Tap Radiation & Tap Tap Revenge 3. In total 22 of the highest grossing games on the planet features tracks by DATAROCK - reaching out to a credible estimate of 500 million gamers minimum.
DATAROCK's tracks have also been featured in a number of campaigns for major brands such as Apple, Coca Cola, Microsoft, Samsung, FOX and RadioShack. In addition, their tracks are featured in a vast number of ads, TV series and films across the world - including commissioned work for Disney & Nickelodeon.

Inbetween international touring and work with his two main bands, Tarjei has also become one of the most sought after session-drummers in Norway, doing work for other Norwegian acts as: Turbonegro, Kings of Convenience, Kaizers Orchestra, Maria Mena, YLVIS, Sondre Lerche, Lars Vaular, Magnet, Knutsen & Ludvigsen to name a few.

In addition to all this, Tarjei has somehow also found time to become somewhat of a media-personality in Norway over the last years - hosting his own radio show 5  days a week at Norways own National Broadcasting Radio NRK P3, as well as hosting live TV-shows and various other radioshows for the largest media organisation in Norway, NRK.
