Christopher Williams

Christopher Williams may be young, but he’s no stranger to the music scene. Beginning his drumming career in the womb, he hasn’t looked back since. Like many drummers, his first pair of drumsticks was a set of wooden cooking spoons from the kitchen. From there he began beating on anything within reach, especially the pots and pans. After going through several “children’s” drum kits, he finally received a Ludwig set in the fourth grade. A few months later at the school talent show, he made his live debut playing along with the Georgia Satellites hit “Keep Your Hands to Yourself."

Throughout high school, Williams played with several rock, jazz, metal, funk, fusion, and blues outfits, as well as the Greenville Youth Orchestra and Greenville Symphony Orchestra. Following his senior year of high school, Williams found himself touring throughout the U.S., marching in the snare line as a member of the Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. Williams also won the Corps' first and currently only I&E Medal, for an original drum solo, holding the title from 2004-2006 after his age-out.

With a background in jazz, fusion, big band, and funk among other genres, he has studied under teachers Paul Riddle (Marshall Tucker band), Dr. Gary Robinson, Brian Tinkle (Brass Theater, Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, Mars Hill College). Williams was also fortunate enough to have lessons with Ed Shaughnessy, Jim Chapin, and Elvin Jones.

Has played with such musicians as Kid Rock, Blackfoot (as a member), Derek St. Holmes, LIT, Mark Slaughter, John Corabi (Motley Crue), Don Barnes (.38 Special), Lee Greenwood, Peter Stroud (Williams' Uncle, Sheryl Crow), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones, solo artist), Carmine Rojas (David Bowie, Rod Stewart), Parliament Funkadelic, Teddy Zigzag (Alice Cooper/Guns N Roses) to name a few.
